A potential MediaTek flagship processor for the Galaxy S25 has been revealed

A report from yesterday suggests that Samsung may replace its own Exynos chip in some Galaxy S25 models with MediaTek’s upcoming flagship CPU. This would be different from what the business does now. It was revealed today that MediaTek has released its newest flagship processor, which is called the Dimensity 9400. This chip will be used in a number of high-end Android handsets.

MediaTek has announced the Dimensity 9400, one of the first 3nm chips for Android phones.

The 3nm (N3E) manufacturing node from TSMC is used in its production.

MediaTek claims that its new chip exhibits a single-core CPU performance that is 35% quicker, a multi-core CPU performance that is 28% faster, and a graphics processing unit performance that is 41% faster.

It is equipped with an octa-core central processing unit (CPU) that encompasses one Cortex-X925 CPU core operating at 3.63GHz, three Cortex-X4 CPU cores operating at 3.3GHz, and four Cortex-A720 CPU cores operating at 2.4GHz. In terms of ray-tracing graphics, its Arm Immortalis-G925 GPU, which operates at 1,612 MHz, has a performance that is forty percent quicker and a power efficiency that is forty-four percent better.

Screens with a resolution of WQHD+ and a refresh rate of 180 Hz can be driven by the GPU. The Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HDR10+ formats are all supported. Devices that have displays that fold in three are also supported.

It is intended that the chip be used in conjunction with 10.7 Gbps LPDDR5X RAM, which is the fastest RAM available in the Android ecosystem to date. According to MediaTek, the L2 cache capacity has been increased to 3.5 MB, the L3 cache has been upgraded by 50% to 12 MB, and the system-level cache (SLC) has been increased to 10 MB.

When compared to the Dimension 9300, it is currently stated that the onboard NPU 890 offers a power efficiency that is one-third more efficient. Onboard artificial intelligence processing, such as generative fill, allows for photographs to be sharp and clear at magnification levels of up to 100 times. A maximum of 320 megapixel camera sensors can be supported by the Imagiq 1090 ISP included in the Dimensity 9400 CPU.
