A potential MediaTek flagship processor for the Galaxy S25 has been revealed

A possible Galaxy S25 flagship MediaTek processor has been disclosed.

A report from yesterday suggests that Samsung may replace its own Exynos chip in some Galaxy S25 models with MediaTek’s upcoming flagship CPU. This would be different from what the business does now. It was revealed today that MediaTek has released its newest flagship processor, which is called the Dimensity 9400. This chip will be used in a number of high-end Android handsets.

MediaTek has announced the Dimensity 9400, one of the first 3nm chips for Android phones.
In terms of the debut of the first 3nm processor for Android handsets, MediaTek has surpassed Qualcomm before Qualcomm. Dimensity 9400, the company’s next-generation premium smartphone processor, has been launched. It will compete with the Snapdragon 8 Elite from Qualcomm and the A18 Pro from Apple. The 3nm (N3E) manufacturing node from TSMC is used in its production.

MediaTek claims that its new chip exhibits a single-core CPU performance that is 35% quicker, a multi-core CPU performance that is 28% faster, and a graphics processing unit performance that is 41% faster.

It is equipped with an octa-core central processing unit (CPU) that encompasses one Cortex-X925 CPU core operating at 3.63GHz, three Cortex-X4 CPU cores operating at 3.3GHz, and four Cortex-A720 CPU cores operating at 2.4GHz. In terms of ray-tracing graphics, its Arm Immortalis-G925 GPU, which operates at 1,612 MHz, has a performance that is forty percent quicker and a power efficiency that is forty-four percent better.

Screens with a resolution of WQHD+ and a refresh rate of 180 Hz can be driven by the GPU. The Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HDR10+ formats are all supported. Devices that have displays that fold in three are also supported.

It is intended that the chip be used in conjunction with 10.7 Gbps LPDDR5X RAM, which is the fastest RAM available in the Android ecosystem to date. According to MediaTek, the L2 cache capacity has been increased to 3.5 MB, the L3 cache has been upgraded by 50% to 12 MB, and the system-level cache (SLC) has been increased to 10 MB.

When compared to the Dimension 9300, it is currently stated that the onboard NPU 890 offers a power efficiency that is one-third more efficient. Onboard artificial intelligence processing, such as generative fill, allows for photographs to be sharp and clear at magnification levels of up to 100 times. In addition to this, it helps enhance power efficiency when capturing 4K video at 60 frames per second.

Following our video below featuring the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra, the narrative will continue. In the video, you will be able to see the performance of the Dimensity 9300+ processor in contrast to that of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

A maximum of 320 megapixel camera sensors can be supported by the Imagiq 1090 ISP included in the Dimensity 9400 CPU. It is capable of capturing 4K 60 frames per second in both SDR and HDR, as well as 8K 60 frames per second in SDR and 8K 30 frames per second in HDR. MediaTek asserts that the processor is capable of recording 4K films at 60 frames per second at any zoom level, which is fantastic news for customers.

A built-in modem that is compatible with mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G networks is included in the Dimensity 9400. In addition, it is compatible with cellular networks 2G, 3G, and 4G. Additionally, the device is equipped with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, Near Field Communication (NFC), and a USB Type-C connector.

The new MediaTek chip is compatible with a number of different location and navigation technologies, such as BeiDou (B1I + B1C + B2a + B2b), Galileo (E1 + E5a + E5b), GloNASS (L10F), GPS (L1CA + L5 + L1C), NavIC L5, and QZSS (L1CA + L5).

There is a possibility that the Galaxy S25 will employ the Dimensity 9400 inside some areas.
The fact that MediaTek’s new processor has already been sent to Android smartphone manufacturers has been verified by the company. Both the Oppo Find X8 and the Vivo X200 are expected to use the Dimensity 9400 processor, and it is possible that they will be released the following month.

It has been reported that Samsung may decide to replace its in-house Exynos 2500 processor with the Dimensity 9400 for the Galaxy S25 and the Galaxy S25+ in some regions. This option is being considered by various publications.
