iPad Mini 7 Benchmarks Show Slower 8GB RAM, 5-Core GPU:
The iPad mini of the seventh generation has recently been discovered on Geekbench, confirming that it contains 8 gigabytes of RAM and exposing the performance of the 5-core GPU version of the A17 Pro CPU.
The Apple Intelligence A17 Pro function appears in the iPad Mini 7.
A17 Pro System-on-Chip (SoC) is included in the new iPad mini, which has been recognized as iPad 16,2 on the Geekbench database. This SoC was first released in the iPhone 15 Pro series in the previous year. The six-core CPU has a clock speed of 3.78 GHz, which is the same as the iPhone version. However, there is a significant difference: the graphics processing unit (GPU) has five cores, which is one core fewer than the one that is found in the iPhone. This leads one to believe that the A17 Pro processor found in the iPad mini 7 is most likely a “binned” variant.
The Geekbench ratings of the new iPad mini indicate a range of performance in single-core performance that falls between 2,710 and 2,840 and in multi-core performance that falls between 6,274 and 6,982. This places it slightly behind the iPhone 15 Pro in both categories. As a point of reference, the A17 Profound in the iPhone 15 Pro normally achieves a score of about 2,888 in single-core tests and 7,169 in multi-core testing.
The benchmarks, on the other hand, demonstrate that the new iPad mini provides a significant improvement in terms of performance in comparison to its predecessor. The sixth-generation iPad mini from 2021 achieved single-core scores of around 2,121 and multi-core scores of roughly 5,367.
Chip | GPU cores | Memory | Single-Core CPU Score | Multi-Core CPU Score | Metal GPU Score | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
iPad mini 6 (2021) | A15 Bionic | 5 | 4GB | 2,121 | 5,367 | 19,486 |
iPad mini 7 (2024) | A17 Pro | 5 | 8GB | 2,840 | 6,982 | 25,895 |
iPhone 15 Pro (2023) | A17 Pro | 6 | 8GB | 2,888 | 7,169 | 27,144 |
Furthermore, the Geekbench listings provide further evidence that the seventh-generation iPad mini has a RAM capacity of 8 gigabytes. It was not known until today, despite the fact that this was anticipated because to the 8GB RAM that Apple Intelligence has. There was only 4 gigabytes of RAM available on the iPad mini from the previous generation, which is a significant improvement over the most recent gadget.
